Will of Amos Wilcox of Minisink

The will of Amos Wilcox, dated 17 April 1821, includes the following identifications of members of his family.

  • son Benjamin Wilcox,

  • grandson Phineas Terry,

  • heirs of my son Isaac Wilcox,

  • grandson Amos I. Wilcox, an heir of my son Isaac Wilcox,

  • son Amos Wilcox,

  • grandson Amos Wilcox, son of my son Benjamin,

  • grandson Benjamin Wilcox, Jr., and

  • son Nathan Wilcox,

Therefore, from his will, we can clearly identify that Amos Wilcox of Minisink had sons by the names of Isaac (deceased), Benjamin, Nathan and Amos.  As Amos left property to his grandson, Phineas Terry, it seems likely that Amos Wilcox of Minisink had a daughter who married someone named Terry and they had a son named Phineas.  Therefore, from his will, we can identify four of the likely five sons and one of the likely two daughters of Amos Wilcox who can be inferred by the 1790 census.
